This is a project I did in the second year of my vocational training as media designer. The specification was to do a project with “color” as theme. We could do everything we wanted – from film to poster. I decided to make a cookbook releated to the color of food.
After I decided to design a cookbook I went to researching recipes and color theory. I choose two recipes for each of the 8 colors – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, white and black. Now a cookbook is nothing without some mouth watering photos of the finished products. So the fun of cooking and baking some deliciouse food began. But before eating it I took some photos. For me it was important that the photos looked delicious, that the color for the recipe showed and that they all together looked like a unit. The designing part began with deciding the structure of the pages by scribbling, then choosing design elements like the font and icon style and finally putting it all together.
As result I created a cookbook with 16 delicious recipes (all gluten-free because my family has to eat that way). Each color section has a page about the color and what it represents followed by the two recipes.
